Where to buy sports watch?

| Diarmuid O'Colmain | Feb 22, 12:54PM | My trusty 10 year old Casio stopwatch with 50 data records, double countdown timer etc. etc. died recently - well actually I think I may have contributed to its death, but the point remains that I need to replace it. Other than that the display was a bit small for my presbyotic eyes (ok, ok auld lad's eyes), it was the best stopwatch I have ever come across and cost a very modest sum when I bought it. I see on the Nike website a couple of good looking watches (Triax Speed and Triax Vapor), probably there are lots of other good brands. Any suggestions of shops that may stock a good range of sports watches? Thanks in advance!.... |
| Rene Borg | Feb 22, 1:17PM | Go Garmin Diarmud! :) The ForeRunner 310 looks like the best watch on the market but there's also the ForeRunner 305 and 405. You can get good deals on ebay and there's very good pricing on the new running store setup by the Rathfarnham runners Mark Ryan and Eoin Flynn: www.sub4.ie. |
| niamh o ceallaigh | Feb 22, 1:27PM | This is my favorite running watch. Good big text. Real cheap at 30 Euro in Argos (even cheaper elsewhere on internet). Great for laps which are saved with dates. It doesn't have the dual countdown though and my one will only let you countdown in whole minutes ... ie. no good for 45sec reps. http://www.casio.co.uk/Products/Watches/Sports%20Gear/Phys/STR-300C-1VER/Technical_Specifications/ |
| Gareth Little | Feb 22, 1:34PM | I'd have to agree with Rene, the Garmin Forerunner 405 is a super watch... |
| michael redmond | Feb 22, 8:29PM | i will sell you or anyone else a hardly ever used garmin 205 for 80 euro 0872418202 |
| Alan Ayling | Feb 28, 3:23PM | Hey Diarmuid, I get loads of offers of watches at good prices on my email account. I will forward them to you if you like? ;-) |
| diarmuid O'Colmain | Feb 28, 10:37PM | Thanks for all the suggestions. Maybe I should have explained I already have a Garmin 305 - a very good watch with great functionality and I use it a lot. But battery life is very limited and it is a little complicated to set up for particular training session, as well as being too bulky for use as a normal watch. In the end, I got an Adidas watch that ticks most of the boxes - small, but with a biggish readable display, multi-lap timer, interval timer etc. It is definitely not user-friendly and is far from being as good as my 10 year old (broken!) Casio watch which I think is probably the best sports watch ever made (lacking distance and heart rate measurement). Timex make some watches with very good functionality but they are a bit bulky, and those I have seen have display numerals that are a bit small. Alan, if you have any 'genuine' adverts, I could be interested but I don't want to solicit a tidal wave of spam! |
