Training run after Maulin

AuthorDateMessage
Eamonn Hodge Mar 4, 2:10PM Going to do the Wicklow Way Trail in reverse after Maulin on Saturday so probably starting at around 2pm. Finishing in Johnny Foxes at approx 5:30. Pretty handy pace. Think we have 3 people so far. If you're interested come along!
Justin Rea Mar 4, 4:52PM As the WW Trail actually does finish in Johnny Fs, I assume you are running backwards. Please be careful, especially coming off Djouce ;-)
Eamonn Hodge Mar 4, 5:08PM Yeah! I like a challenge!

Bit of a mistake there alright, I was thinking of the first leg of the ultra but in the other direction (also known as the return leg of the ultra!). It would be good to imprint the route on my brain to aid me as I wander dazed and confused in the rough direction of Johnny Foxes after 7 hours running.
Niamh O Ceallaigh Mar 4, 5:16PM Yeah,
I think it is important that you do that recce Eamonn as you sound a bit dazed and confused already and you haven't started running yet!!

How is WAR training going? Have you had a go at the bike section yet?

Niamh
Eamonn Hodge Mar 4, 5:32PM Yes Niamh, probably would be wise alright.

WAR training is going grand. Did the first two cycle legs which were fine. Quite a tough hill coming out of Lough Dan and then there's the whopper of a climb up to Lough Tay viewing point. The Sally Gap was closed the couple of times I was out for a cycle. Djouce run seems nice. Thought I had done the correct route last Saturday but I had cut straight back onto the Wicklow Way coming off Djouce whereas I should have continued onto White Hill (judging by the OSi map) and only re-joining the Wicklow Way just before the carpark.

Might go for a Wicklow cycle this weekend if legs are too tired to run any more on Sunday.
Kevin O'Riordan Mar 4, 5:36PM White Hill is on the Wicklow Way. Going to go for a run along the route on Sunday, might see you there if you're not too wrecked after your insane endeavours on Saturday (a mountain race followed by a training run, yikes).
Paul O'Grady Mar 5, 11:45PM Eamonn - give me a shout if your cycling the WAR route on Sunday and I'll join you!

Actually I'll talk to you tomorrow!!
Eamonn Hodge Mar 8, 5:30PM Thanks for the heads up Kevin, must have another look at the OSi map and compare it to the WAR map.

Didn't quite do the full 25k after Maulin on Saturday. Myself and Jeff Fitzsimons did around 20k I'd say. The legs are a little sore today.

Sorry Paul, didn't feel up to cycling on Sunday as it happens. Still it was good to get a reasonably long run in prior to the Wicklow Way Trail/Ultra. They have been lacking recently.
