| John Maye | Mar 5, 10:54PM | Hi, Sorry to partly hijack the forum to promote the first and annual KNOCKBEG COLLEGE 1MILE CLASSIC ROAD RACE. The race is happening on April 3rd in Knockbeg College just outside Carlow. 10 euro entry, seperate Mens and Womens A and B races AND you get a tshirt and bag for that. All money raised goes to Knockbeg College Athletics, which has produced 3 schools/youths mountain running internationals and collected All Ireland and Leinster Schools championships over the last few years. There is no other race on the events guide on the day and further details on the race are available on runireland.com and listed under events on Facebook. Would love to see lots of you there on the day. John Maye 0876379354 mayzah@hotmail.com |

| Paul Brew Crew | Mar 29, 11:07PM | Hi Lads, we will be in attendance at the Knockbeg College Race this saturday. Let us know if there are any special dietary needs required. Looking forward to seeing you all on the day. Paul. |
| Rene Borg | Mar 30, 9:17AM | Hi John, What's the recommended mile time for the A and B standard respectively? Oh, and on a more serious note, is the 100 euros for breaking 4:25 paid cash or by cheque? ;-D |
| Keith Heary | Mar 30, 10:12AM | to run the A race for men its for runners sub 6 minute and women sub 7 minutes the B race will be for men running over 6 minutes and the B race for women will be for runners running over 7 minutes A men sub 6 mins A women sub 7 mins B men over 6 mins B women over 7 mins |
| John Maye | Mar 30, 7:07PM | Cash Rene if thats ok! Have some people promoting race up in Wicklow so hoping there will be a crew coming down form the Garden county. Will you be down yourself Rene?? Thanks Keith for answering that. Should add that there are plenty of spot prizes and a raffle with some great prizes. John |
| Rene Borg | Mar 30, 9:17PM | Hi John, I'll be down indeed, looks like the perfect season opener and have had an itch for the mile ever since I made the mistake of reading "The Perfect Distance" ;-) Will be a great change, looking forward to it! |
| carol pender | Apr 3, 6:12PM | just have to compliment on john on organising a good event. good fields in male and female events on a testing course. great to run a mile event when every other race seems to be going 1/2 marathon distance and above. |
| Rene Borg | Apr 4, 5:34PM | I'll second Carol: Great event John, idyllic surroundings, very professional organisation (and good to see the Brew Crew out there as well), and an interesting course (with the gravel path and the small hill from 1000-1100m, you could stake a claim for inclusion on the IMRA calendar ;-)). I wasn't aware this was the inaugural event but hope the plentiful runners will see this return. A great pre-season race and it if triggers a resurgence of interest in the Mile, then so much the better! (wouldn't it be lovely to have a selection of grass or cinder miles or 800s Highland Game style available as well?). Well done to Michael Dowling who finished third overall and to the winner whose time 4:24 earned him the 100 euro bonus! Good joust in the women's were Pauline Curley held off to St. Abban's girls for a win in 5:15. |
